Mr. Jermaine Whitaker is a Kittrell Bulldog through and through. He’s worked at the Kittrell Job Corps since 2015, where he started as a Substitute Instructor. In 2016, he began working full-time at the Kittrell Job Corps as the Penn Foster Online High School HSD Instructor. After teaching full-time for a little over a year, Mr. Whitaker was catapulted into management at Kittrell JCC, as the Academic Manager. He served in that role from 2017 until 2019, and was then promoted to the Education and Training Manager in August of 2019. As the E&T Manager, Mr. Whitaker led the Kittrell JCC’s Education and Training Department through the Covid-19 Pandemic and the onset of Distance Learning, until 2022, when he received his fourth promotion at Kittrell, becoming the Programs Director in October 2022. As the Programs Director, Mr. Whitaker had oversight of Social Development, Recreation, Academics, Career Technical Training, Counseling and Career Preparation Period. Mr. Whitaker served in this capacity until 2024, where he was promoted to his current role as the Campus Director.
Mr. Whitaker is also a licensed and ordained Baptist Minister. He serves as the Pastor at the Brookston Baptist Church, located in Henderson, NC. As the pastor at Brookston Baptist Church, Mr. Whitaker is also affiliated with the United Shiloh Missionary Baptist Association, where he and his congregants are in fellowship with more than 20 other churches. Brookston Baptist Church also serves the community through its’ Food Bank Pantry partnership with the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, and also provides volunteer opportunities for job corps students.
Mr. Whitaker is committed to serving people and he is especially eager to reciprocate what was given to him as a 16-24-year-old young person, and that is structure, guidance and most importantly, chances.
Mr. Whitaker holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Strayer University.
