Eckerd Connects recruits, trains and supports individuals to provide temporary care, love and nurturing to children 0-18 years of age.
In addition to serving as the legal guardian for children, foster parents also serve as mentors who actively help parents improve their ability to safely care for their children. In some cases, foster families may adopt children when the children cannot return to their biological family.
In some locations, Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC) is available for children and teens ages 3-18 in need of extra care and attention as they await adoption or reunification. Services include basic living and social skills training, educational support and mental health counseling as needed.
Fostering a child will likely be one of the most challenging — yet rewarding — tasks of your life. As a foster parent, you help bring stability to a child’s life during a time of trauma. Foster parents leave lifelong impressions on children in their care and positively impact the futures of children and families in our community, in addition to gaining deep personal fulfillment and satisfaction.
