UCF’s Knights Volunteer at Eckerd’s Project Bridge Program

On Saturday, October 11th, the Knights Give Back event will bring together University of Central Florida students, faculty, staff, and alumni to make a difference for the Eckerd Project Bridge site and the youth Project Bridge represents.

Approximately 15 volunteers will donate 2 hours into the project on Saturday. Volunteers and Eckerd Project Bridge youth will work on beautification of the property. Everyone will come together to re-mulch areas on the property, plant trees and Hawaiian Tis, create barriers to landscaping areas, stain wood benches and beautify the area.

Since many of the volunteers are interested in becoming a Project Bridge mentor, from 9:00 am – 10:00 am, Home Builders Institute will be conducting role model training and matching them with youth.

Eckerd’s Project Bridge helps facilitate the transition for young people who are returning to their home communities after completing time in a Florida Juvenile Justice residential program. Available to boys and girls ages 11-21 in Central and South Florida, Project Bridge provides educational, mentoring, vocational and transportation services to help these youth achieve stable and successful lives and avoid re-entry into the criminal justice system.
