Success Stories | Michael R.

Michael, a 23-year-old high school drop out, enrolled in the Youth Connections program in June 2019. He always wanted to be a teacher and give back to his community.

Michael lives in Wabasso, an area which is known for its high poverty. He wanted to work at Wabasso School; a special education center that is known for meeting the unique academic and social needs of the students.

With hard work, Michael was able to earn his diploma and in November 2019. He was so proud of himself!  He went on to earn an occupational skills certificate, his CPR/First Aid, and increase his TABE to sufficiency.

Michael is currently employed with MR Painting of the Treasure Coast and plans to enroll in the Teacher Assistant program at Indian River State College in the Fall.

Congratulations Michael!
