Success Stories | Adam

A Second Chance

Adam found Eckerd Connects months before he was enrolled. He was living at a sober living house in San Luis Obispo and knew he wanted to start a career as a truck driver so he could support himself and his family. He attended Eckerd Connects’ workforce orientation, but learned he was not eligible for the program. Adam stayed in touch with Anna, his career coach, for months until he became eligible. She enrolled him and worked with Adam to decide if truck driving would be the right fit for him.

A New Way

Through Adam’s determination and perseverance to create a career path, he worked with Anna to complete his training packet and enroll at the Truck Driving Institute this past April. He went through the training with excellence! In May, he shared with his career coach that he hit his one-year sober date and was proud of where he was at. He passed his Class A driving test in June this year and is going for his endorsements. Adam said he could not have gotten to where he is today without his career coach, Anna! He is now working with her to develop his resume so he can put his training to use.
