Success Stories | Nasiru
Nasiru began the Train & Earn program on November 17, 2020, during the pandemic.
Nasiru arrived early, was professionally dressed, and always had a positive attitude while attending the Virtual six-week training.
In addition, Nasiru had perfect attendance for the training and all workshops. On February 2, 2021, Nasiru completed the Customer Service training and obtained his National Retail Federation Credential.
Job Club is where Nasiru began to utilize the interviewing skills he learned in training. In addition, Nasiru attended several hiring events and Bronx Workforce 1’s Youth Forum, where he could articulate the struggles young adults have when seeking employment.
He also hosted a workshop for his peers on “How to Create a Website.” Nasiru was an inspiration to his peers and always was uplifting.
Nasiru was selected to host several of the Instagram Live Events. He interviewed Eckerd Connects’ Operational Director, Caroline Hudak, and a Real Estate Entrepreneur with offices in Atlanta and Jamaica.
Nasiru attended all Eckerd Connects workshops, including Reform Workshops, Life Skills, Time Management, and Table Talk. Nasiru & his team also won the 1st ever Virtual Escape Room.
Nasiru began Eckerd Connects’ 1st ever Virtual Internship Program on May 10, 2021. Nasiru completed the 90-hour Success Training Institute 14 Element training, where he received several certifications, including Entrepreneurship.
Nasiru was a Team Leader in the “Solve a Real Workplace Problem” component of the internship. He created and designed Social Media posts and Print Materials.
Nasiru was extraordinary as the Team Leader for Promotional Videos. He wrote scripts and was responsible for editing all his team’s videos.
Nasiru excelled in the internship program. He attended the Manifest Your Goals – Vision Board Workshop to highlight his career goals early in training.
Nasiru highlighted his goals of working in Food Service and a career in the Tech field. He envisioned these goals and made them come to fruition with the assistance of the staff and the training he received at Eckerd Connects.
Nasiru is now employed as a Line Cook and is earning above minimum wage. He is also currently attending Per Scholas IT (Information Technology) training.
After Nasiru completed training, he continued to refer his peers & friends to Eckerd Connects.
Nasiru was chosen for the Star of the Month for his hard work, dedication during COVID-19 & for his perseverance.
