Karon enrolled in the Eckerd Connects Workforce Development program in June of 2021, right after high school.
His goal was a career in welding, but Karon also wanted to learn new skills to make him more employable in the short term. At 17 years old, Karon did not have much workforce experience.
To gain confidence, Karon first completed his Develop U Training. Then he completed his Safe Staff Food Handler Credential and his AHLEI Certified Maintenance Employee Training. Karon was now confident and ready to find work in the welding industry.
Just a few short months after coming to Eckerd Connects, Karon landed a Paid Work Experience opportunity with DK Construction Design as a Welding Helper.
After the experience, Karon was offered a position with DK Construction Design. Thrilled about this job, he is now learning more about welding each day and gaining the skills he needs to succeed. Karon says,
