Success Stories | David

David was struggling to find his way. He had to drop out of school and was dealing with some legal issues. He could not find a job and was giving up. In his words, he felt his life was worthless at 16. That however changed after walking through the Youth Connections doors.

“Once I heard about the program and met Ms. Ashlie, I had some hope. She listened to me. She believed in me and most of all, she didn’t judge me like so many others had. She gave me a chance. I explained how important getting my diploma was to me, and she agreed. Together we developed a plan on how to accomplish all of my goals.”

New Beginnings

After completing Y.E.S.S. training and earning an occupational certification, David enrolled in Penn Foster Online Training. He worked hard and within 3 months he earned his High School Diploma! The next step was to work on employment. We placed David in an internship with Treasure Coast Propellers, and here he thrived. He found something he was interested in and loved the people he worked with. After the 6-week internship ended, the employer offered David a full-time position, and he even got a raise! David did not let his past or the opinions of others stop him, and we are so proud of all he has accomplished.

“I can’t tell you how happy I was to find a job I love and work with great people. I am learning so much. I can even help my mom by contributing to the bills. I never thought I would be here. I have a support team that I never though was possible. I tell everyone about (Eckerd Connects) Youth Connections and how they changed my life for the better. Thank you for giving me a chance and believing in me. I am so proud of what I have accomplished, and I can’t wait to see what is next.”
