Success Awards: Taniyah
Celebrating Success and Transforming Lives.
Taniyah (Age 18)
“They {Eckerd Connects’ Project Bridge} have helped me so much to get on my feet after being released from the Program, and almost immediately having my beautiful baby boy, Legend… Legend has changed my life and with that change I realized I need to be able to provide for him and me.”
At 18, Taniyah became a single mom while still in high school. After getting into trouble at school, Taniyah found her way to the Eckerd Connects’ Project Bridge Program. She began taking classes online with an educational team to support her. The flexibility of the online program helps Taniyah to care for her infant son, Legend. She is determined to build a bright future for herself and her son.
With the support of Project Bridge, her goal is to complete high school and become a Licensed Physical Therapist. She has a mentor and career coach. Facing transportation challenges, Eckerd Connects also supported her through driving lessons, helping her to obtain her Driver’s License. Taniyah now has independence and a fierce determination to succeed. Thanks to the Eckerd Connects Success Award, Taniyah has the tools she needs to pursue her education and career—a laptop, printer, desk, headphones, and of course, driving lessons.
“Thank you for helping me and my son to be successful in life. I can’t wait to drive my son Legend somewhere. It’s been very hard to get Legend to all his appointments…I can now go grocery shopping if I need to and I am looking forward to being able to drive to my new job.”
