Representative Escobar Visits David L. Carrasco Job Corps Center Discusses Importance of Career Training in El Paso for Texas Youth

El Paso, Texas, – November 25, 2019: Rep. Veronica Escobar (TX-16) visited the David L. Carrasco Job Corps Center to tour the campus and discuss the critical importance of career and educational opportunities for Texas youth. Escobar was joined by ODLE Management Group, LLC, the operator of the Carrasco Job Corps Center, and key members of the campus’ leadership team and student government leaders.

Every year, the Carrasco Job Corps campus serves over 500 undereducated, underserved young people from El Paso and Texas. The Carrasco Job Corps Center has achieved over 120 percent in student outreach and recruitment. Further, Carrasco is ranked 5th in the nation in the U.S. Department of Labor’s Outreach and Admissions Outcome Measurement System as of October 2019. Carrasco also touts a nearly 96 percent student safety satisfaction rating (national average 86 percent).

Approximately 88 percent of Carrasco Job Corps graduate secure a job, enroll in higher education and/or enlist in the military upon graduation. Further, Carrasco works closely with local employers such as the Fox Toyota Lexus of El Paso. In fact, Fox Toyota donated a prefabricated car to the Carrasco automotive technician program to enhance career development skills.
