Potomac Job Corps’ Student Speaker at White House Youth Policy Summit
We are incredibly proud to share the inspiring journey of Jawan, a shining example of resilience and determination!
Jawan, a Potomac Job Corps student, recently had the honor of speaking on a panel at the White House Youth Policy Summit. His voice echoed the importance of Job Corps in shaping young lives and providing a path to career success. But Jawan’s journey goes beyond words on a panel; it’s a testament to his strength in overcoming adversity.
Despite facing homelessness, assault, and discrimination, Jawan found empowerment through the discussions at the summit. He not only connected with youth from around the world but also with influential figures like First Lady Jill Biden, Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su, Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona, and National Director of Job Corps Erin McGee.
For Jawan, a Jamaican immigrant, the White House was more than just a dream; it was a beacon of hope. “I never expected to even go to the White House… It was so honorable,” Jawan shared.
As an advanced training student in the Transportation Communications Union trade, Jawan is on the path to realizing his dreams. He aspires to become a flight attendant, a testament to his unwavering determination and ambition.
Jawan’s story is a reminder that no obstacle is too great to overcome and that dreams can indeed become a reality.Learn More About Job Corps
