After three years, Chandra, a former foster child, is heading home to family

Chandra, 17, whose adopted father died when she was 11, has been living at E-Nini-Hassee, a therapeutic school and transitional housing for girls, for nearly three years, She says she’s excited to get back home to live with her mother, after being in the custody of DCF. “I’ve been trying to leave here ever since I came here to be honest, and I’m excited that I’m finally to that point,” Chandra said.

It’s been at least four years, since Chandra has lived with her mother.

A former foster child, she’s ready to go home.

E-Nini-Hassee, a therapeutic school for teenage girls, is set back on 800 acres in Floral City, where girls learn skills to cope with hardships and trauma, in a quiet setting under the pine trees.
