Hard Work, Sacrifice & Commitment Leads to Success!
Like many young people, Christopher wanted to change the course of his life, but did not know how. He tried several different attempts, but always ended up falling short. He was needing a job and feeling hopeless when he came across one of the Eckerd Connects’ flier and called immediately to schedule a time to meet with Mr. Johnson.When asked by area manager V. Wilson, what was his first impression of Mr. Johnson when meeting him? Christopher replied, “Mr. Johnson shook my hand and said, Hard work, Sacrifice, Commitment, Success. If you are not willing to put in the hard work, make the sacrifice to commit, then don’t expect success.” Christopher went on to say, that really stuck with me. I knew right away that the Eckerd Connects program was different. I felt like they really cared about me. It made me want to succeed.
Christopher was determined to achieve his goal of getting his GED. He attended all the workshops and every GED class. When asked what set Eckerd Connects WIOA program apart from others, he replied, “Eckerd Connects has really great tutors and they have night classes which allows me to work during the day and attend classes at night. Most importantly they made me feel like I could do it.”
Christopher’s hard work, sacrifice, and commitment led to success. He earned his GED; and to make his success story even better, he was offered a full-time job after completing his paid-work experience!
