CLEARWATER, FLORIDA — Eckerd Kids was recently given the opportunity to have a positive impact in the lives of even more citizens of Lower Savannah in need of a second chance.
The organization’s president and CEO, David Dennis, announced internally on Thursday March 16, 2017 that Eckerd Kids has received a substantial grant from the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), allowing them to elevate their work in the South Carolina and Lower Savannah region.
“This new contract will allow us to impact thousands of individuals per year,” said Dennis.
As WIOA’s newly appointed “one stop operator,” Eckerd Kids, will be providing adult and dislocated workers in America’s Lowcountry region with much-needed assistance.
This award positions Eckerd Kids as the sole provider of WIOA services in the region. The organization is already delivering youth services through Paxen Learning, as well as assisting justice involved young adults in the community with obtaining employment through a Department of Labor grant.
