Caring for Children, a program operated by Eckerd Connects, has made the difficult decision to close the Trinity Place emergency youth shelter in Asheville, North Carolina after staffing shortages have made operating the program very difficult. The program has been in operation since 1992 and has assisted 4,500 youth and their families.

“Much like other organizations throughout the United States, Caring for Children has experienced staffing challenges throughout the Covid-19 pandemic,” says Dave Hardesty, Vice President of Operations. “After much effort but no success in attracting qualified talent, we’ve announced our decision to close the program. Our first priority has always been the safety of the youth we serve and the quality of care that they receive under our supervision.”

Caring for Children would like to thank the community for their tremendous support of the program throughout the years, and we are committed to providing a safe and effective transition for the youth involved at Trinity Place.
