Success Stories | Holli
Holli withdrew from high school as a young adult when it became clear to her that traditional schooling couldn’t accommodate her unique schedule and specific needs.
As a young mom with two children, it was almost impossible to function within the mold that traditional schooling required. Knowing there had to be another way, Holli began searching for different options. She didn’t want to put her future on the backburner but wanted instead to demonstrate to her family what success could look like. “My biggest motivator was my children,” she said. “Pursuing my education set a good example for them.”
A friend referred Holli to the Career Pathway Program at Eckerd Connects | Paxen in Cartersville, GA where she finally began to receive the support she needed to succeed. Eckerd Connects was able to adapt the program to Holli’s busy schedule – between working and raising two children, her family responsibilities had to come first.
Working with Holli, we developed an individual service plan that included fundamentals such as GED preparation classes, support services, and career exploration with the help of knowledgeable advisors who put her goals first.
By the end of the program, Holli had proudly earned numerous certifications including her General Education Diploma (GED), a Retail Industry Fundamentals Certification, and a Certified Nursing Assistant Licensure. She completed the Career Compass Academy and then transitioned to become a Patient Care Tech, gaining experience through the Training Center in Northwest Georgia.
We are so proud of Holli and the advances she’s made in the short time we’ve worked together, and we’re confident that she is well-poised to provide for her family and achieve even more success for herself.
All services provided to Holli are part of a workforce development grant called Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA). Eckerd Connects | Paxen is one of the youth providers in Northwest Georgia in partnership with WorkSource Northwest Georgia. All services are funded at no cost to the participant.
