Needing an alternative
Jaidon learned about the Eckerd Connects Workforce Development program from a friend. He sought an alternative schooling option because he was not doing well in school due to poor attendance and low motivation.
Jaidon wanted to try our Workforce Development program because obtaining his high school diploma the traditional route was not working for him.
Enrolling in the program
Jaidon successfully completed the trial portion of the program by demonstrating to his career coach a commitment to change his life, and he was officially enrolled to become a participant.
As a participant of the program, Jaidon was presented with a wide array of career readiness, workforce, and life prep lessons that addressed work ethic and interviewing preparation, fiscal management, and personal development.
Getting Certified
Jaidon obtained his first state-recognized credential one week after being enrolled, and he earned his high school diploma a little less than three months after being enrolled.
A career coach partnered with Jaidon to get him some work experience in real estate as he was specifically interested in investment properties.
The Eckerd Connects Workforce Development program has successfully partnered with a well-known real estate broker in the Deland area, Kathy Aparo-Griffin Properties Inc, to introduce participants to pursuing a career in real estate.
A fantastic opportunity
Jaidon began the Work Experience (WEX) portion of the Eckerd Connects program with Kathy Aparo-Griffin Properties Inc and is working over 20 hours a week. He is the third program participant to work with her.
Jaidon will soon become a graduate of the Eckerd Connects program and pursue a career path that will allow him be a productive, financially independent individual which is the end goal for the Eckerd Connects Workforce Development program!
