“Having a new phone will allow me to take calls from my employers no matter where I am on site and be available should they need me for overtime. I would also like to thank you for the earbuds which will allow me to hear if I get any phone calls while working with loud equipment.”
Through the Eckerd Connects Workforce Development Program, Samson was able to get an internship and work so hard that it led to a job with the same landscaping employer. As a new father, he also wanted to further his education to prepare for a better life for his family. So, while working, he is also taking classes to earn his high school diploma through Penn Foster.
A few obstacles came in his path—the tires on his car had gone bad and he didn’t have reliable phone reception at work, putting his job in jeopardy. The Eckerd Connects Success Awards have given Samson peace of mind, with four brand new tires for his car, a new phone, and earbuds to help him hear even in a loud work
environment.
“Having new tires will let me drive safely to work and know that my family is safe with no more bald tires. This will allow me to ensure I can provide for my family and know that should I decide to attend college or find another position which may allow me to one day own my own business.”
