Non-Profit and Seasoned Youth Service Provider Set to Rejuvenate Job Training Services at Potomac Job Corps

(Washington, DC) – Eckerd Connects (Eckerd), a national nonprofit organization headquartered in Clearwater, Florida and Odle Management Group, LLC (ODLE) are proud to announce the two companies, have been awarded the contract to operate the Potomac Job Corps campus effective November 1, 2021.

“We are so excited to bring the experience and passion of both the Eckerd and Odle team together to further enhance the Job Corps campus in our Nation’s Capital,” said Rich Semancik, Chief of Job Corps Operations at Eckerd. “For decades, Eckerd has worked to change the lives of thousands of children and families. Being able to help put young women and men’s’ careers on the map in and around the DMV is a natural extension of our mission to promote the well-being of young adults in need.”

The Potomac Job Corps campus serves approximately 580 students each year in a variety of high-demand job fields, including healthcare, construction (plumbing, HVAC, electrical, cement masonry), security and protective services and hospitality, hotel and lodging. The Potomac Job Corps campus serves economically disadvantaged youth throughout the Washington, DC area.

Last week, the U.S. Department of Labor announced the reopening of new student enrollment for in-person instruction and job training at Job Corps centers across the nation. The announcement came during an event at the Potomac Job Corps Center in Washington, where Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh met students and recognized how centers across the country have adapted as the nation combats the pandemic.

Job Corps is a national residential career and technical education program serving disadvantaged students ages 16 to 24 with several Job Corps campuses in the greater Washington, DC area, including two in Maryland and three in Virginia. Job Corps provides safe and stable housing, basic healthcare, wraparound support services, remedial education, and vocational and technical job training.
