New Strategies Long Overdue on Measuring Child Welfare Risk

The Chronicle of Social Change reports on how various jurisdictions have been exploring new tools to focus on youth in the child welfare system most at risk of subsequent abuse or neglect. These new approaches generally reply on predictive analytics, instead of older tools as Structured Decision Making (SDM) which rely much more heavily on self-reporting from parents and caregivers.

In Hillsborough County Florida, Eckerd Kids developed a predictive analytics tool called Eckerd Rapid Safety Feedback®. Several states are working with Eckerd to adapt and implement RSF® in their child welfare investigations.
