Investing in our Children Pays Dividends

Carmi Brown, director of Eckerd’s Friends of the Children Program, responds to an article in the Tampa Bay Times that discussed youth outcomes in the poorest neighborhoods of Tampa Bay.

Friends of the Children addresses this issue by pairing 64 of the highest-risk foster children with professional, salaried mentors from kindergarten to high school. The outcomes from other cities that have implemented this program have been very positive. Eckerd hopes to expand this program in Tampa Bay and is asking the community for its support.
