Happy Birthday, Mr. Eckerd!

A note from Eckerd Connects CEO David Dennis:

Today marks 105 years since the birth of our founder Mr. Eckerd. Every year, to celebrate his legacy, we recognize May 16th  as “Founder’s Day”. Best known for his successful Eckerd Drug Store chain, Jack’s true passion was for children. In 1968 he opened a camp for young people, and that venture quickly expanded to become what we now know as Eckerd Connects.

Mr. and Mrs. Eckerd’s dream of ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed has blossomed into a national nonprofit that now serves over 34,000 children and families each year across 20 states and the District of Columbia.

I hope that all staff take some time today to reflect on the legacy of Mr. and Mrs. Eckerd and all that has been accomplished over the past 50 years.  Thank you for making Eckerd Connects an incredible place to work. Here is to the next 50 years and remembering our founders, Jack and Ruth Eckerd.
