From Foster to Famous: Willie Nelson
Willie Nelson, 84, is a man who needs no introduction.
A legendary singer, songwriter, author and poet, Nelson’s unique voice and ‘outlaw country’ style has earned him a place in the hearts of millions.
Born during the Great Depression, his parents traveled between Texas and Arkansas in search for work. According to reports, his mother abandoned the family leaving Nelson in the hands of his father, who re-married and left shortly after.
Nelson and his sister Bobbie were shuffled around after that, but were ultimately raised by his paternal grandparents, who started their grandchildren in music.
Nelson was welcomed into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1993, and continues to tour today.
