Child welfare veteran Rebecca Kapusta has joined the Eckerd Connects Community-Based Care leadership team. Kapusta will step in as leader of Eckerd’s Hillsborough County lead agency and will be responsible for the day to day operations, coordination of the agency’s network of services providers, and achieving the outcomes and performance standards that have already been established.
Kapusta is an attorney by profession and has most recently served as the Interim Secretary of the Florida Department of Children and Families after a distinguished 17-year career at DCF. She also served as Assistant Secretary of Operations and General Counsel in addition to holding positions in the Suncoast Region Office.
“Rebecca is a proven leader and manager with great compassion for the children and families we serve,” said Eckerd Connects President and CEO David Dennis. “We are thrilled to have someone with this level of talent, experience, and compassion join us in our efforts to achieve safety and permanency for our children and families.”
Kapusta is well known and respected throughout the state of Florida as a child advocate and innovator in addressing the myriad of challenges facing the child welfare system. She also coaches her daughter’s softball team and resides in Tampa.
