Eckerd Connects has partnered with Bethany Christian Services of Florida to provide support to families in crisis with short-term temporary placement. The Safe Families for Children program offered by Bethany Christian Services of Florida serves families who may be experiencing unexpected illness, homelessness, and lacks the support of extended family. Typically, these are short-term crises that are generally time limited in nature.
Safe Families is a network of host homes that helps parents who needs a temporarily placement for their children while the parent manage a critical life circumstance. A host home provides a loving sanctuary and serves out of a sense of compassion and love. Each host home goes through an approval process, which includes completing an application, background checks, and reference checks. For some roles, finger printing and home safety assessments are completed.
Safe Families is not part of foster care or adoption, and the host home receives no compensation for caring for the children. The parents voluntarily place their children with a host home while they re-establish stability in their homes so the family can be reunited — stronger than ever.
Safe Families strengthens and supports families by listening to parents, connecting them to supportive relationships, and sharing resources. No family should feel alone.
Bethany Christian Services of Florida serve parents in Hillsborough County affected by unemployment, homelessness, substance abuse, mental health illness, domestic violence, and medical crisis.
