Determined teen achieves goals through Eckerd Kids

Calling Micahel Patrick determined could be an understatement.

At the age of 16, the Project Bridge participant has not only earned his GED ahead of schedule, he’s also established stable employment.

“Micahel started a job at Burbage Built building cabinetry, hanging drywall, painting, and plastering recently,” said Kelly Starke, the program manager for Project Bridge’s Southwest Region. “It’s a milestone and skill-set he should be very proud of.”

Micahel isn’t stopping there though. Because of his hard work, this driven teen has options.

Through Project Bridge, Micahel recently toured Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers. He’s considering either enrolling in a four-year university like FGCU, or perhaps a diesel mechanic program.

“Michael has a strong support system at his home,” said Starke. “We’re just glad to be an extension of that. We’re excited to see where this young man can go from here.”
