When Bobbie first connected with Eckerd Connects’ Family Services, she had already made the brave decision to leave an unsafe situation in 2019. She and her young son had spent years navigating constant moves, financial instability, and the difficult work of rebuilding a safe, consistent home.
“In four years, I lived in nine different places,” she shared. “Couches, friends’ houses, family members’ homes, whatever I could find. I was doing everything I could to keep us going.”
When she arrived in Brevard County hoping for a fresh start, the instability followed. At the time, Bobbie was unemployed due to a workplace injury and facing significant financial barriers. She had finally located an apartment, but the stress of moving costs and rebuilding her life was heavy. Through financial assistance from the Eckerd Connects Family Services Rapid Rehousing Program, Bobbie was able to move into her own apartment, a safe space for her and her son. She was also connected with her Eckerd Connects Family Coach, Lhencia, and the two built a bond that changed everything. Not only were they able to work on budgeting together, but the wraparound case management that she received made her feel safe being honest about her struggles with no judgment or pressure, just support and understanding.
Since then, Bobbie was officially offered a full‑time administrative assistant position with the Space Coast Transit Maintenance Department—a role that provides stable hours and full benefits. Now, she can be present for her son while stepping into real opportunities for career growth.
It was everything she had prayed for. Finally, after years of uncertainty, instability, and hardship, Bobbie and her son are now building the stable, connected, and hopeful future she has always envisioned.
“I’ve struggled so much, but when I found you all, I said, ‘Thank you, Jesus. This is what I needed.’ Eckerd Connects helped me get back on my feet—and now I’m climbing.”
