5-yr-old former foster kid finds the hero he deserves

Anthony, 5, has had a tough start in life.

Severely disabled since birth, he was placed into the foster care system before his first birthday. Despite not being able to speak, his expressive eyes tell the story of a little boy who loves life.

Thankfully for Anthony, someone finally saw the spark in him that his friends at the Childrens Board Heart Gallery of Tampa knew was there all along.

He was adopted on Monday, May 22, by the Hart family, in a Superman-themed ceremony.

“This is really something to celebrate,” said Heart Gallery Tampa Bay’s Executive Director Jesse Miller. “We couldn’t be happier for Anthony. He’s an amazing little boy.”

Anthony’s new mom, Donna, is a special education teacher at Bloomingdale High School. Together with her husband Greg, and the couple’s two biological sons, Anthony will finally have the loving family he’s always deserved.

“He’s outgoing and loving and just smiles,” dad Greg Hart told reporters at his son’s adoption. “His giggle is amazing and it lights up a room. You can’t help but love him.”

There are dozens of children in the Tampa Bay area currently up for adoption, and even more in need of caring foster parents. If you have space in your heart and home, now is the perfect time to get started.
