22 Young Adults Involved in Eckerd Programs to Receive New Laptops
Twenty-two youth involved in Eckerd Kids programs will receive brand new laptops and laptop bags this Wednesday courtesy of the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). Annually, the BOCC receives federal Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) funding intended to help eligible individuals and families achieve self-sufficiency.
Eckerd Kids worked with the Hillsborough County Department of Social Services and the Community Action Board to receive the laptops for youth in need. The twenty-two youth are currently enrolled in Eckerd’s Independent Living program, and have recently graduated from a previous leadership program where they learned life skills and were able to choose the career of their dreams. Many of the youth have never owned a computer of their own and will be able to take the computers to college and use while in school.
Eckerd staff, as well as Hillsborough County Community Action Board members will be in attendance. Refreshments will also be served.
